Max Muscle Sports Nutrition (MMSN) was founded in 1991 by Joe Wells, a former NFL linebacker. Mr. Wells has studied sports nutrition all of his adult life and began developing and distributing premium quality, science based, great tasting, safe and effective sports nutrition products upon the conclusion of his NFL career.

Finding a strong demand for MMSN products, the company began licensing retail distributors, primarily in the Western U.S. and over 10 years, licensed over 100 such distributors. During this expansion phase, Mr. Wells selected Sean Greene, a well-respected performance athlete and nutritional expert, to help him build MMSN.

In 2001, Mr. Wells decided to take MMSN nationwide and chose franchising as the business model to accelerate the company’s expansion. To spearhead MMSN franchise growth phase, Mr. Wells selected Patrick Sanders to establish a strong franchise system that would carry MMSN across America.

In 2004, MMSN began its franchising expansion. Today the company proudly supports 140+ operating franchise units (with many more units under development) and recently established its 5-year goal to build out a total of 750 operating franchise units.

Today MMSN consists of two companies, i.e. Joe Wells Enterprises (the product research, development, production, and distribution side of the business) and Peak Franchising, which is the franchising arm of MMSN.

MMSN is the ONLY company of its kind operating within the gigantic $22 Billion sports nutrition/weight loss (SNWL) category of nutritional supplements.

MMSN currently markets over 100, highly branded MMSN and weight loss (SNWL) products and always has innovative products “in the R&D hopper” for future release. In addition, it markets is own branded sports apparel and a line of over 100 very high quality general nutrition (nutracuticals) products.

Today MMSN requires its store owners and employees to complete a Certified Nutrition Coach™ program (administered by an outside certification organization) our stores offer extensive nutritional counseling and dietary planner services to its clientele. This service is VERY unique and VERY popular!
